GATE TWO BEFORE AND AFTER

It’s time for another transformation—and this one is a showstopper. Welcome to Gate Two, a home with stunning architecture, abundant natural light, and the kind of layout designers dream of. While the space had great bones, it was ready for a fresh perspective — one that layered in warmth, texture, and thoughtful design.

Our client wanted a space that felt elevated but effortless—refined yet relaxed. We leaned into that effortless California living, embracing a palette of natural materials and soft contrast to create a space that feels both grounded and light.

Let’s start with the living room...

The original layout was open and airy with incredible volume, but the palette felt flat and the finishes lacked personality. One of the strongest features—the dual-sided fireplace—had potential to be a true centerpiece, but its bulky, gray cladding didn’t do it justice.

Rather than altering the structure, we reimagined the fireplace entirely with a limestone finish that adds warmth, texture, and timeless appeal. This architectural anchor now connects both the living and dining rooms with a beautiful sense of continuity.

The living space was layered with inviting textures—linen, boucle, warm woods—and styled with soft, sculptural forms. A dramatic black chandelier draws the eye up, playing off the natural stone in the most beautiful way. This room now feels cozy, collected, and incredibly elevated.

Now onto the dining room...

This space had the right footprint, but it was craving warmth and functionality. The existing finishes didn’t connect visually with the living room, and the shared fireplace wall—while architecturally striking—felt disconnected without consistent materiality flowing between the two zones.

The new limestone finish wraps around to the dining side of the fireplace, creating a seamless transition and sense of continuity between both spaces.

This was a key design moment—one material, two experiences. From the living room, it feels grounded and cozy; in the dining room, it becomes refined and sculptural.

We styled this space with a black oak wood dining table, surrounded by textured neutral chairs that invite lingering.

Overhead, the glass pendants bring just the right amount of lightness and movement without competing with the stone.

Custom built-in cabinetry flanks the fireplace wall and provides a perfect moment for curated styling—vintage ceramics, beautifully crafted books, and layered objects that add soul without clutter.

And those details...

This project is a reminder that sometimes it's not about starting from scratch—it's about refining, layering, and reimagining what’s already there. By leaning into the architecture and adding intentional materials—like the custom stone, the curated textures, and the soft sculptural elements—we created a space that feels modern, yet timeless.

Every corner of Gate Two was designed to feel collected and livable. From the performance fabrics to the functional layout, this is a home that’s made to be lived in—but never compromises on beauty.

To our amazing clients—thank you for trusting us with your vision. It was an absolute joy to bring this space to life for your family, and we hope you enjoy every moment spent here.
