It's time for another before and after! We live for the moment when every last detail is completed and we can photograph a project! After months (sometimes years) in the planning and construction phase you almost forget how far you've come. This project is a great example of a beautifully planned space that needed a modern update. As we walk you through the space you'll see what an incredible open concept floor plan it has.
Let's start in the kitchen with this before...
You can see how open and beautifully laid out this space is. But the darker wood tones and fixed elements weren't the look we were going for. We wanted something bright, airy and welcoming! We worked on some renders to give the space new life.
3D CONCEPT
You can see we removed the heavy cabinetry in the dining area and we relocated the wall ovens to create a cleaner transition into a small coffee station (pictured below).
We still wanted some contrast since we were featuring lighter vinyl oak floors so we went with a darker custom stained oak island to help ground the space. We had originally specified a porcelain slate backsplash to tie it all together, but our client opted for a secondary crisp, light and airy backsplash! Ready to see the after?
AFTER
I just love how this space came together! We specified 2CM quartz on the perimeter and then 1 1/2" quartz on the island with a 12" overhang for the counter stool. I am obsessed with the woven texture of the stools! When working in neutral spaces I love tying in lots of texture. If you look closely, you'll see the variation in color on the backsplash. It really is warm, inviting, light and airy! This is a great example of how mixing metals and wood tones helps make a space look more thoughtful and adds visual interest. We of course, measured our island and hunted down this one-of-a-kind vintage runner which makes all the difference in the space. A project is never finished if it's not styled. This kitchen is so versatile and I think it will appeal to anyone who enters the space!

We featured Signature Kitchen Suites (SKS) appliances on this project and we have zero regrets. My client said her veggies are lasting so much longer and they're always crisp! She also mentioned how evenly her wall ovens have been cooking.
Let's hop over to the powder room! This is one of my most favorite spaces! I am soooooo glad our client approved our custom designed tile! We created a prototype for our local manufacturer and had this tile made exclusively for us! Sometimes a little splurge is just what a space needs!

Are you drooling? I know I am! So much to love in this powder! The wall mounted faucet, the backsplash with ledge, the woven rattan on the wall sconces, the arched mirror, the custom vanity and more! I really love this powder and wish it were mine. One of my all-time faves!
Ready to check out the rest of the house? Let's head to the formal dining room! Check out this before. Lots of darker wood tones. And again, we were aiming for light, airy and welcoming!
Our clients love to entertain which is always my fave! I love a family that wants to share their space with others. We wanted to give them plenty of comfortable seating space and storage. See our 3D concept below!
3D CONCEPT
What I love about these renders is how we can see the project come to life. There were zero changes in this space so our render to reality should blow your mind. We spend a lot of time on the front end of our design process collecting information about lifestyle and aesthetic. We have a client questionnaire that is completed prior to the design phase and we kickoff the project with an extensive mood-board to make sure we are all on the same page when it comes to aesthetic. Let's take a look at the reveal!

Night and day, right? Such a beautiful transformation. I feel like formal dining spaces have lost their appeal, but they really can be functional + inviting spaces when well-designed. We designed the area with the comfiest chairs ever. Who doesn't love a barrel chair? These chairs are perfect for working from home, long chats, game nights, girls night in and more. Making your formal dining room less "formal" and using it on a more regular basis vs. holidays only is not a bad use of the space in my opinion!
Let's head over the family room! We certainly maximized this space! Floor planning is a vital part of design. Take a look at how we transformed this layout to better serve our new homeowners.
BEFORE
We wanted this space to feel cozy + inviting. Designing a space for families that entertain means creating versatile seating. So the ottomans double as seating or somewhere to kick your feet up.
3D CONCEPT
Doesn't it feel like the perfect place to binge Netflix or read a good book or even take a nap! We always specify bleach cleanable fabrics so there is no worry... even if you spill red wine. Yup, we got ya covered. Those details matters. Function + beauty work hand in hand. Let's take a look at the final product!
AFTER
Notice any differences from render to reality? Nope! We maximized every inch and I'm pretty sure you could seat 10-15 people here comfortably. I can already picture Christmas morning in this space. It makes me so happy! Here's one more before + after just for kicks!

Alright let's wrap it up and head into the dining room! A hardworking space for most families. From homework to family dinners, a dining room is sacred! I mentioned the heavy built-in earlier. This piece needed to go!
BEFORE
I love incorporating a gallery wall somewhere in a home. It's always nice to reminisce on past family trips or special occasions. I think it personalizes a space and reminds us where we've been and where we are headed. This symmetrical gallery wall and rustic wood piece really steal the show. I have been wanting to specify this piece forever. It speaks for itself and truly is one of a kind.
3D CONCEPT
You'll understand when you see it in this picture below. Isn't it dreamy? This piece alone probably weighs 500 lbs. It is made from reclaimed wood with a bluestone stop. So pretty and one of my favorite pieces of all-time.
AFTER
Every time I reflect and wrap up projects I'm reminded what a privilege it is to work with such gracious + lovely clients. These clients were so excited for the process and so thankful throughout the process. I still remember their presentation day and how sweet and grateful they were.
This house truly is a beauty! I'm so glad so many guests will have a chance to enjoy it. I'm sure many meals and parties have already been had. If you wanna see more of our Kristen Glen project head to our portfolio page!
