MY TOP 8 CLEANING AND ORGANIZATION TIPS FOR 2019

Updated: Dec 9, 2022

With all the New Year's Resolutions floating around I thought I would share a few practical tips that have helped me simplify life. As a mom of 2 young children and a Type A personality, keeping my home tidy is on my priority list. These simple changes have helped transform my day-to-day routine.

Incorporating these woven baskets and fabric file boxes to my home office helped create uniformity, while allowing me to access necessary items quickly. Baskets can be a great tool if you take proper measurements prior to purchasing. Make sure you're not mixing different variations of the same material. Here you can see I have one woven style and one fabric style rather than 2 mismatched woven styles. Capeesh?

If you've been following for a while you know we are a family of 4 living in a 1400 sq ft home. As my jewelry collection has grown, I've run into some major nightstand clutter. This Jewelry Storage is a gamechanger. It tucks right behind my bedroom door and serves the purpose of jewelry storage and full length mirror!

We recently purged through our kitchen and donated a ton of Starbucks city mugs. We held onto maybe 6-8 mugs because we run the dishwasher pretty regularly. I also only keep a set of 6 plates and bowls on hand. Any dinner party over 6 gets fancy plastic or bamboo plates. I realize this may be cut throat, but if I'm cooking a dinner for 8, I'm definitely not washing all the plates. Our set of 6 is plain and simple form Crate and Barrel. I received the Bennet Rimmed Dinner Plate, Salad Plate, and Low Bowl off my wedding registry 13 years ago and they are still intact! I also love the Mercer Dinnerware Collection. The best part about neutral dinnerware is it can be dressed up or down for holidays and parties!

DVDs=a total clutter nightmare. I went back and forth on this like someday I would become some sort of Ebay sales queen and I wouldn't be able to sell my DVDs without their cases. Let's be real, ain't nobody got time for that. Last week we bought a CD case and threw out all our DVD boxes! I chose this DVD case because it holds 288 disks which was just the right amount for what we owned!

This tip was a total GAME CHANGER for me. Instead of storing cleaners, rags, and brushes all over your house, try using a caddy. I eliminated most of my cleaning supplies by switching over to microfiber cloths. I use Norwex, but Amazon has some great options too. Norwex towels are anti-microbial which means you can clean anything with just a cloth and water. I know this sounds outrageous and it took a little getting used to. But I love not having a ton of cleaning products all over my house. I hang my cloths under my sink next to my caddy using Command Hooks. The rags are under my bathroom and kitchen cabinets so I can quickly clean up spills in the moment without running all over the house.

Hope these quick tips help cut back on your cleaning time to make time for the things that really matter! I know I'm always looking for ways to be more efficient in my day-to-day routine. Happy New Year!
